Where in-person funeral services are prohibited or restricted due to Covid-19, Memorial Occasions provides live streaming of the service through Zoom, and also gives the option of uploading the recorded service for viewing at a convenient time.
Those in attendance can sign the guestbook on the website just as if they were there in person. In this way, the immediate family can feel supported although social distancing is the order of the day. Hopefully soon, social distancing will be a term that we will vaguely remember. Even then, Memorial Occasions will still be useful and convenient for family and friends to extend support to the family in a variety of ways.
Unique to our website is the option to send written and/or video condolences. Just imagine how comforting this will be for the immediate family to actually see and hear from individuals locally that they perhaps haven’t seen in months due to Covid-19! Once Covid-19 is over, what about family and friends who cannot make the funeral because they live out of town or out of the country, those who are sick and cannot travel, those limited by monetary constraints? Well in quiet moments of peaceful reflection, the bereaved can gain strength and encouragement from watching messages of sympathy and comfort.
Many times, family and friends would not only like to send comforting words, but would also like to send monetary assistance to help with the expenses associated with the loss of a family member. Memorial Occasions offers a simple and quick solution that is safe and secure to send money to one or more members of the immediate family.
My family experienced the loss of my father and his brother (one of my favorite uncles) within 3 months of each other in the summer of 2019. What helped us get through that difficult time was prayer and our faith, but also the comfort we received from others. We had great support in attendance at their services, not to mention the phone calls, cards (with and without money), text messages and no doubt the prayers from our extended family, friends, spiritual brothers and sisters, old classmates, neighbors and even the doctors and the nurses who cared for them in their final hours.
The Memorial Occasions platform combines many of the activities associated with the bereavement process to one website. This is especially needed now since Covid-19 has changed so much in our everyday life including how we grieve. As with so many other families, ours has fallen victim to Covid-19 (with the loss of an aunt, cousin and a close friend of the family), and we understand the pain of not being able to grieve in our traditional ways. Memorial Occasions was developed to give us new ways to mourn the loss of our loved ones. So no matter if your loved one’s passing has been one day, one week, one month or longer, let Memorial Occasions serve as the platform for your family to receive the support you need to get through this difficult time while permanently preserving and honoring your loved one’s memory online.
