— To Remember —

Barri F. Johnson

01/11/1955 — 12/03/2022

Barri Faye Perry was born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi to Jim and Madie Perry on January 11, 1955. When Barri was young, her family moved to Illinois where she was raised in Chicago. Growing up, she was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed her studies. In 1972, she graduated from Wendell Phillips High School in Chicago.

Shortly after high school, her family came in contact with Jehovah’s Witnesses and she started studying the Bible. Her zealous love for Jehovah God and his Son Jesus Christ moved her to dedicate her life by water baptism on June 29, 1973.

As a faithful servant, she decided to have companionship by her side. On February 16, 1974, she married H. Jerry Johnson. As a devoted and patient wife, she was an outstanding example in the congregation. She actively spoke about her beliefs with all she came in contact with in her ministry. She attended Pioneer Service School in 2005. Barri had a love of cooking, fashion, music, dancing, singing, decorating and plants. Her greatest loves called her “ Mama” and “Nan”.

Barri was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Madie, her four siblings: Donald, Doris, Juanita and Calvin.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 48 years H. Jerry Johnson; three children: Corey Johnson (Robin) of Petoskey, MI, Christie Stewart of Chandler, AZ and Camille Lewis (Ryan) of Harper Woods, MI; five grandchildren:Malachi, Taylor, Maddox, Bryson and Brielle; two brothers: Joseph (Nola) of Denver, CO and Carl (Maxine) of Chicago, IL; one sister: Vanessa of Chicago, IL, and a host of family and friends.

Barri will be remembered for her unwavering love of Jehovah, calm demeanor, poise and grace. She will be missed by all.
