Glen Gray
07/02/1950 — 02/11/2023
Glen was born July 2, 1950. He was the eldest of five children born to the union of Edwardnae and Earl Gray. Over time though, he would come to have many brothers and sisters.
Glen was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the tender age of 12 in 1962. He graduated from Chicago’s Hyde Park High School in 1968 and continued his education at Northeastern University. He started his career first as an elementary teacher then moved on to work as a mechanic for Chrysler Motors and fixing cars became his passion. He spent most of his life in the Chicago area. During that time, he began a relationship with Eve Mann and became father to two children: Empress and David. It wasn’t until later in his life that he moved to the south suburbs and reconnected with his childhood friend, Deborah Wooley. They were married January 2011. Sadly, she proceeded him in death February 24, 2021.
Glen was a very kind and sensitive person. He would literally give you the shirt off his back and was very disturbed, sometimes even shedding tears when he’d hear of other peoples problems. On Saturday, February 11, 2023, Glen fell asleep in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Empress Spinson and David Elijah Mann. His grandchildren: Patrice, O’Dell Jr, Shatearra, Jemontie, Da’Loria, Davine, King and Elijah. His great grandchildren: Khyaire, Karsin and Hayley, his siblings: Michael (Kathy) Glanton, Glenda (James) Sydnor, Denise (Jimmie) Stingley, Mark (Teresa) Glanton, Dwayne (Alysia) Gray, Adrian (Diane) Glanton, Ronald (Judy) Glanton, Robin (Robert) Helms, Renae (Keith) Daly, Fatima Uwakwe, Morris Sharrieff, Anthony (Caryl)Harris, Charles (Efia) Morris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
