George Frederick Meux, 63, was the third child (kid in the middle) born to David and Etta Meux on September 21, 1959.
He received his formal education from Gary Community School Corporation graduating with honors from West Side High School in 1977. His career began as a switchman for EJ&E Railroad, and included various positions at Southlake Methodist Hospital, Deitrich Industries, a foreman at Avery-Dennison Industries. He retired from Avery-Dennison Industries after many years of service.
George was an avid sports fan. The Chicago Bears topped his list of favorites, but the Bulls and the Chicago Cubs ranked with him as well. He was a fun-loving person and the “life of the party” where there was a party. He loved music. He loved to bowl, karaoke, dance, play pool, Bid Whist and travel just to name a few. He loved to be a “protector” for his mom, Etta and his “Baby Girl”, Lisette. He was especially fond of his Uncle Preston (Linda)Meux, cousin Joe Brown, cousin Vincent Meux, cousin Jackie Meux, friends Chris Johnson and Clarence Davis. Friends of Lisette often referred to him as “Daddy”. He was always there in a time of need even if it was just for a “good time”. He was loved by so many; this is truly a loss. His memories will be cherished forever.
George fell asleep in death Thursday, August 24, 2023 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his loving daughter, Lisette and grandchildren, Linyhia, Joseph and Kacey.
He is predeceased by his father, David Alvin Meux, Sr and his brother David Alvin Meux, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Lisette Armenia Meux (whom he named) of Katy, Texas; Evan Keon Patrick Meux of Evansville, Indiana; mother Etta Meux of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; sister Sarah (Paul)Thomas of Las Vegas, Nevada; 2 brothers Eric Meux and Alex Meux of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; 3 grandchildren Linyhia, Joseph & Kacey of Katy, Texas; 1 great grandson, Marley Sol’ Smith of Katy, Texas and a host of uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
