Mary Ellen Moore

11/23/ 1937 — 10/ 29/ 2023

Our  Dear Mother  Mary  Ellen Moore,   passed  away in her sleep on 10/29/2023   at  approximately 1:45 am  after  a  courageous   battle  with Parkinsons & Dementia at the age of 85 years old. Mary  Ellen Conley, Jr., (named after her mother - Mary Ellen Conley, Sr.) was the 2nd born child of Leonard &  Mary  Ellen Conley on 11/23/1937  in   Chicago, IL.,  with the most beautiful birth mark on ½ her face and  freckles from her father.

Mary was raised in Ida B. Wells homes on 37th & King Drive along with her parents & sisters. Mary attended and graduated from Wendall Phillips High  School on Pershing Rd. in Chicago  as the Salutatorian of  the Class of 1954.  (She lost the position of Valedictorian by 1 point).   Although  Mary’s education/career dreams were to become an English teacher,  she  met  and fell in love  with  the  love of her life,  her  one and only,  Frederick H. Moore. They were married on April 4, 1959, and proceeded to have a family.

Later in 1962,  she  dedicated  her life to  Jehovah and remained a very faithful servant for over 60 years.  Mary always desired to be a Full-Time Pioneer in Jehovah’s Organization. And after 30 years of service at Illinois Bell/Ameritech/ATT as management,  she was  able to retire and  continue her full-time Pioneering for a total of about 40 years.

Anyone who met Mary was drawn to that one-of-a-kind smile and over time grew to love her and her fascination with the color blue. (Her favorite color of all time).   And if you didn’t fall in love with her after knowing her for a while,  you  definitely  would after   tasting   her  famous fried chicken wings  cooked   with  an added stick of  butter in the oil and   her tuna  and macaroni  salad.   She  had  that  type  of loving heart that lit up a room.

Genuine love was all she knew, therefore all she gave. If you were ever  hungry   and  needed  food  to  feed  you  and  your  family,   no judgement on her part - just call Sister Moore - the shopaholic that she was  who  always  had a  pantry  and deep  freezer  full   of  food.   She would go in our kitchen and walk out with 3 bags of groceries, say to her girls, “we have to drop off a care package to XXXXX”, grab general toiletries - toilet tissue, paper towels, soap, etc.  Instructed  to   please behave and if offered something, do not accept. We got plenty back at home.

Sister Mary Moore (Our Mom) aided several people over the years into Jehovah’s organization that are still  faithfully  serving  and  who also have children that grew a love for Jehovah and followed suit.

Mary  Moore  was  proceeded  in  death  by her Mother – Mary E. Conley, Father – Leonard Conley, Husband - Freddie Moore and Sister – Lenore (Kitty) Brown.   Mary  is  survived  by  her  Two Children - Daughter – Tammey  Hale (Lebron),   Daughter - Shelley Morgan (Antoine), Eldest  Sister – Ethel Giles, Grandsons – Torian Morgan, Jorrell Strawder,   Courtney  Morgan,  And Ryan Morgan  (Great Grandson – Jaidyn Sanchez), As Well As A Host of Nieces, Nephews, Friends, Christian Brothers/Sisters, And Coworkers.

Now you may rest our Ladybug, until we meet again in Jehovah’s new world.  No longer in  your broken body!  We all know that Sister Mary Moore  is  in  Jehovah’s memory! She was a faithful servant ever since she dedicated her life in 1962!!! She never ever waivered from the truth.

The day I met Mama Moore , she became my Mom. She has helped me be determined to stick to Jehovah and our work through everything. I never saw her angry and never sad. She served our God through every circumstance. And never ran out of energy. Thanks for sharing Mama Moore. with me. I grieve with U.❤️
