Opal Ann Brock
10/24/1934 — 07/30/2021
OPAL ANN BROCK was born on October 24, 1934. She was the 8th of 9 children in Mounds City, Illinois born to Etchers and Ardella Roberts. She married Finas A. Brock, Sr. on August 1, 1954, in Peoria, Illinois. Opal fell asleep in death on Friday, July 30, 2021.
Opal was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She symbolized her dedication to Jehovah through water baptism on July 6, 1958. Opal worked as an office clerk for Caterpillar Inc. where she retired. However, she continued in her volunteer ministry throughout her life, serving as a regular pioneer for 18 years.
Opal will be remembered for her strong will, feisty and fun-loving personality. Back in the day, you could find her singing and dancing to her beloved Motown music. Later in life, she displayed that same passion while watching the game show network. Opal was also a big sports fan, especially of baseball. Her children would often joke with her that the only reason she liked licorice and jellybeans was because she knew they wouldn't ask for any. She loved to cook and feed her family. More than anything Opal loved the ministry and talking to others about her God, Jehovah. She loyally displayed the characteristics of
1 Corinthians 13:13 "...these three remain: faith, hope, love; but the greatest of these is love."
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Finas (Stephanie) Brock, Jr. of Iowa; five daughters, Jeanette James, Wanda (Kevin) Johnson, Melinda Brock, all of Atlanta, Georgia; Phyllis Alexander of Peoria, Illinois; and Karen (Andrew) Crider of Jacksonville, FL; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
