Glenwood W. Cole, Jr. was born October 18, 1940 in East Chicago, IN to the late Georgia and Glenwood W. Cole, Sr. About the age of five, he moved to the Small Farms area in Gary, IN. He graduated from Calumet High School class of 1958. He served in the Armed Forces briefly, being generally discharged as a conscientious objector.
On January 16, 1960, Glen, (along with his sister Gladys), symbolized his dedication to his Heavenly Father and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a dutiful servant of the congregation and was privileged to give public discourses and handle the accounts. He was an approachable and empathic brother, assisting the friends in any way needed. On April 17, 1964, Glen married Geneva Griffin from Auburn, Alabama. In 1969 they moved to the Horace Mann area of Gary and raised their two daughters, Sharon and Sandra (Sanji). After sometime, he lost his way on the “road to life” but thankfully, after a period of time he returned and rejoined his family on that road.
Throughout his youth he enjoyed bowling, roller skating, and most of all billiards. He was employed as a carpenter for LTV Steel until he retired early in 1994. After retirement, Glen occupied his time briefly as a security guard at Timberview Nursing Home.
Unexpectedly, at the age of 81, Glen fell asleep in death peacefully at his home on Monday, January 10, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father Glenwood Cole, Sr; his mother, Georgia Gee; and his sister, Gladys Banks.
