— To Remember —

Michael Street, Jr.

08/30/1974 — 03/30/2022

Michael was born on August 30, 1974, in Gary, IN to Michael and Janet Street. At 14 he dedicated his life to Jehovah God and symbolized it by water baptism on August 27, 1989. Michael graduated from Wirt A. High School in 1992 and began pioneering that same year. He was appointed as an elder in 2000 and served as such until his death. As an elder, Michael did all he could to care for and shepherd the congregation with love. His help and care extended past their spiritual needs. Michael would do anything for the friends: fix a leaky sink or repair a hot water heater. He knew so many people that even if he couldn’t do it, he would find someone who could. He used those same handyman skills while working for Residential Management Company and while serving with the former Regional Building Committee on punch list and Inspection crews. He also was known for working with the Parking Department at conventions and assemblies in cold, rain, and summer heat.

In 2001, Michael married Oceanna and together they enjoyed traveling to visit friends, quick weekend getaways, and hosting friends at their home - any excuse to make his famous peach cobbler. Oh, how we’ll miss his peach cobbler! After 12 years of marriage, they were surprised by the birth of Michael’s “Main-Man” Declan. Michael and Declan were best friends from minute one, in fact when Declan was born Michael held Declan before Oceanna did. Together the two of them enjoyed napping, watching TV, listening to music (especially smooth jazz), and making quick runs for ice cream and slushies.

Sadly, Michael died Wednesday, March 30, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Michael was 47 years old. He was preceded in death by his father Michael Sr. Michael will be missed but not forgotten by his wife of 21 years Oceanna, son Declan, mother Janet, brother Kendall and sister Dashana Street; Aunts Sheila Turner, Brenda (Eric) Pickett, Bessie Porch, Sharon Turner; uncles Byron (Debra) Turner, Raphael (Shannon) Turner, Rodney Turner, James “Rudolph” Hooks, Lavander Hooks, and a host of relatives and friends.
