Donna  Brown

05/08/1961 — 06/01/2023

The Edson Family welcomed a new baby girl on May 8, 1961 in Camp Walters, Texas. Donna was born to parents, Charles and Joanne. She lived a full life, creating many precious memories along the way. One of the foremost being the day she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah by water baptism at the age of 20 years old.

Donna met Jeff Brown in Colorado Springs, CO. They married on July 2, 1988 and appreciated each of their 34 anniversaries together. As a couple they had a rich theocratic history together.

For 25 years, she served alongside her husband in various parts of the Dominican Republic as pioneers in special full-time service. Many people came to know them throughout the island as they poured themselves into the traveling work in the Spanish field. She once confided in a friend, "I would never trade this experience for anything!"

Never meeting a stranger, she consistently showed personal interest in those whom she met even if it was their first time. Whatever challenge a person faced, Donna's advice was the same, "Stay focused on the Kingdom and more importantly your relationship with Jehovah."

Donna really enjoyed teaching and assisting on Bible studies. Helping people learn more about drawing closer to Jehovah was her favorite part of the ministry.

As her health declined and she could no longer participate in the ministry, her love for Jehovah continued to be stronger than her illness. Donna truly was a shining example of what it means to have zeal for Jehovah!

She adored cats, loved to travel, and spend time with friends. She was really good at keeping in touch and letting others know that she was thinking of them.

Sadly, after battling a long illness, Donna passed away at the age of 62 on Thursday, June 1, 2023 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Left to remember her smile and friendly nature, Donna will be missed by so many including her devoted husband, Jeff; father and step-mom, Chuck and Thelma; siblings Mary (Keith) Wilsey, Robert (Patty) Edson, Carol (Mike) Phillips, John (Sharon) Edson, and Lynda Hamlin; many nieces, nephews, and other family members who loved her very much, including her spiritual brothers and sisters. Her mother, Joanne (2022), and her sister Debra (2015) preceded her in death. We look forward to the time when Jehovah will wipe away tears from all faces and death will be no more. (Isa. 25:8).

Donna was not only a true friend but a wonderful mentor. She was honest, loving and full of good advice from a genuine heart. She always wanted the best for each individual. Her focus was always defending Jehovah’s name and making sure He always got the credit for all her privileges and gifts. She encouraged me to love people and work hard to reach the heart. Looking forward to seeing her real soon and sharing some wonderful stories of how much she was loved.
